The Vector Data OpenRouter is a configurable network router supporting 40, 10 and 1 Gb/s Ethernet interfaces. Hardware configurations of up to three sustained 40 GbE interfaces, thirty 10 GbE interfaces or thirty 1GbE interfaces are possible with up to a maximum backplane bandwidth of 120 Gb/s. Models are available in 1U and 3U chassis heights.
OpenRouter is based on commodity hardware, offering price-performance unachievable on legacy routers.
OpenRouter is designed as a data center aggregation device intended to facilitate movement of bulk data on to inter-facility links including telco-provided Ethernet, metropolitan and campus fiber, DWDM, and radio back haul. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported as are a full range of router capabilities and protocols including BGP, OSPF (v2 and v3), IS-IS, management and configuration tools, monitoring and logging, security and redundant power.
